Maximum and Minimum Tempreatures on the Allotment
I take temperature readings once a week, generally on a Sunday. I use a rather cheap thermometer. I have been doing this since 1997. The max-min thermometer is in a 70% shadehouse. There is some pattern. In Portsmouth, we have not had temperatures below -6°C. Below zero temperatures can start in late October and can be experienced until the end of April. Even in freezing weather, the day temperate generally rises above freezing. Frosts are not experienced between May and September.
Monthly Rainfall
I measure the rainfall once a week, generally on a Sunday. My setup is quite crude. I have been doing this since 1999. The scale is in centimeters. The "white" bar on the left hand side shows the monthly average for all the years. Although there is a lot of variation, there is some pattern. In Portsmouth, we have had dry summers and wet winters.
